Well that was frightening!:tard: Was woke up by the quake this morning at 1.00 in York.Thought we had lost the roof it made so much noise, not bad for a 5.2 magnitude but only for 10 seconds. Our American friends are probably used to it but I never thought we would feel one that strong in the UK.Luckly no damage and my daughter slept right through it!!Anybody else feel it?

Not here mate ... the Glesgae granite must be made of sterner stuff than Yorkshire mud! (can't grow spuds in it for toffee tho!) :)

Yep we did, we're in Leicester, next county across. A couple of houses in the street had their chimneys fall down. I sounded to me like a train was coming down the street. You're right, never expected that over here.

Yep, i did, was wide awake too, and only 15 miles from Market Rasen where it started (according to MSN), i've felt 2 before today, but this was by far the strongest.

I did! At first I thought it train going over Yarm Viaduct (Heavy goods ones sometimes rock the foundations a bit) when I realised there was no train sound I then thought some paranormal entity was rocking the bed, I nearly turned all religious. Then as quick as it started it stopped! So I thought Fuck it! Found out when I got up this morning wot the real score was.

Yeah, someone on my course was going on about how they felt it, and I was nodding along thinking, "you're so talking out of your ass, you twat !"
Anyway, got a text from the wife saying, do I remember waking up at 1 a.m. to the airer banging against the radiator and me bollocking the cats for it ? Well she reckons that it was the earthquake. She looked at the clock and it was 1 a.m.
When I think about it, I had been listening to the sound for a while, but not gained consciousness until my wife said, "stop it cats !" I then woke up, ripe for cat bolocking and gace the manly, "Fucking cats!" mandatory yell. However, this is always follwed by a scurry of cat claws on wooden floors for a second until claws are retracted and they get the grip and there is thunder as they escape the sound of my voice, knowing that a swipe of my hand or foot is in order if they are anywhere near.
That didn't happen. Just banging of the airer and then it stopped, and the door swung straight open.
Can only have been the quake.
I'm sure for the US guys we are making a big fuss about nothing, but as a country, we aren;t prepared for anything out of the norm. See what happens when we get a dusting of snow for fucks sake. But a pigging earthquake ???
