Hi everyone, here's one from Queens masterpiece album 'A Night At The Opera', called Bohemian Rhapsody :)
This one has been in the works for a while, its been a real team effort throughout, Kenny took the vocals & harmonys on the song, which is a piece of art in itself, by far the hardest part of the song to perform by some way.
As always Kenny has delived a superb performence, the man has giant balls of gold, he must do to reach everything in the middle alone, a huge thank you for your hard work Kenny, and brilliant performence :yourock:
I built the backer from scratch, played all guitars and piano, mixed the instruments, Kenny did the mastering on the song, and we really hope you enjoy it as much as we did, and thanks for taking a listen :thumb:

first off i would like to apologies to everybody for not being around much and checking out their songs. i will get to them as soon as i can time permitting
bohemian rhapsody? are you nuts? i think that is what i told Jamie when he suggested it. never in my wildest dreams did i think i would be a part of covering this classic masterpiece. i had the tracks for a while and messed around a bit with it here and there but it just didn't jell and i was just about to give up on it. ass kicked. Tuesday i decided to try it again. did it in 3 parts all in one afternoon. sang the lead vocal once through first. then i did the intro Harmony's. then on to the worst part. the middle. slowly one by one, singing each part twice for better stereo panning and fullness and it just kind of came together. i had so many tracks it wouldn't even show them all on the screen. thats the main reason i had a bit of timing trouble. i did the best i could and its not exactly like the original but close enough for me. I'm a long way from Freddy and the boys. it was fun to try anyway. i am totally impressed with Jamie's job on the backer and the mixing and its always a pleasure working with him. thanks in advance to all who stop by and comment

Ya know what? I thought this this tune would be 'un-coverable!!' Absolute huge admiration for both you. Eamon7, to have the skill, patience and pure bollox to do all the vocal parts ( Thats all the members of Queen by the way lets not forget) and pull it it off superbly is astounding. Avalon, just awesome on the instruments. I was waiting for the first solo to kick in and you nailed it, tone and all.

i dont normally give stars as I feel it requires something special to get 5 stars so I dont give them often but you 2 have more than
done enough to deserve them, 5 big ones.

That was sheer quality, Very Brian May tone and sound. Great vocals, which must have been a task within its self.
A great job of a classic, which was amazing. speechless:bowdown:

Kenny...what a massive undertaking!!!! Those harmonies kill!!! You must be ready for the straight jacket now!!!
Jamie...you already know how I feel about your backer making skills but, what really blew me away this time was how close the guitar parts were to the origional!!!! Not only the playing but, the tone as well!!! Not an easy task!!!:wtf:

Wow!!! My first reaction when I saw this song on the list was "No way!!". Then I noticed who had done it ... aahhh!
Jamie, having had one reminder today of just how good you are at the backers I now have another, and the guitarwork is not to be sniffed at either, fantastic as ever And Kenny, what to say about such a mammoth task undertaken so well. Even if I could sing anywhere near this range I would not have the sheer brass balls to attempt this song. Truly awsome!
More   and *****
Fuckin' CCCoooOOOLL dudes!!Anyone attempted to cover this song deserved the respect:bowdown: Very hard song to cover but u gays ooopp sorry guys did it in justice!Only one thing eamon7 IMO,U have great hi tone vox but for this song u used too much hi boost which made it sound unnatural & soooo much thin like a cat lol, improve the vocal mix will make it better. The bt is very cool too, perfect bt. Anyway,5***** for this epic!

Amazing effort lads excellent job, don't know where you got the patience from to do such a mammoth task,I know I wouldn't dream of trying it.Unfortunatly I agree with the comment on the vocal mix,it does sound a bit un-natural and a bit too much high end.Besides that an amazing track 5 stars from me:woot:

Incredible stuffs!!Jamie's works are outstanding,he must listen to the original song more than thousand of times so he could translate every instruments like this.Great attempt for the great song ever.Only one thing,I do agree with previous comments above bout Kenny mix(not vox),no need to use hi frequency boost like this bro.BTW ***** for sure!!

BOOMSHAKALAK !!!!
Hopefully ive read the the other comments right ....what i would say there re the mix on vox is that there are more prominent melodies which need to shine through and the high enders sitting back a tad which would give it more warmth.Avo the BT was great and Eamon you know i would have your children . All in all UP THE TOON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great stuff guys !!!!:boobies: :boobies:

comments on the mix are welcome and encouraged. at least thats an easy fix and its entirely my fault. i know what i did and make no excuses but i will explain. being older and the constant yelling of "turn that damm tv down" have caused me to not rely as much on my ears and i tend to use automatic mastering like ozone a bit too much. danny danzi is right that your ears are still the best and mastering software should be used in moderation if even used at all. what i noticed about ozone is that the freq above 2k tend to get over processed by the aural (not oral geordie.lol) exciter. what i did in the past was to cut that section of the exciter way back and i didn't this time. the reason i use 2k as a starting point is that it will still enhance the kick and snare up to that point but after that it will grab the loudest thing (lead vocal) and over-enhance it.
as for the comments about taking on such a mammoth project and doing a pretty good job they are very much appreciated. again my thanks go to the master jamie who made doing something like this possible. if not by his talent but in the belief that we might be able to pull it off.

Everything that's already been said and then some. This was such a huge project to take on.
Kenny, I don't know how you managed to split out all of those close harmonies and sing them individually.... And THEN hit those highs!
And Jamie, that May tone and solo playing, especially the vibrato, was so like him. You must be very familiar with his playing style.

Thank you for the extremely kind replys and feedback everyone, especially on the guitar tone and playing, although im very familar with Brians style and work, i always have alot of trouble with alot of his songs, the tone and style is just so unique, and i'm far from a master tone crafter, so i spent alot of time trying to get it sounding like Brian, so its great to get some very flattering comments on his tone, i'd better go back that patch up now
For me though, the song is made by Kennys vocals and harmonys, that is really something special
Thanks again everyone :)

Well what can i say that hasn't been already , Kenny i think you deserve the balls of steel award for taking the vocal task of this on , cos the harmonies alone deserve such praise and a big hand in honesty , by far not a easy task and yet you did incredible work with them all , Jam i agree that the guitars sounded a hell of alot like Brian May , you could of let me know you had a podxt patch that sounded that good instead of letting me use some crappy setting on my Queen cover abit back lol  , still much like Kenny's peformance you did fantastic work with the guitars, bt , piano , mix , 5 stars fellas :)

Whoah, now that's one mother of a cover guys. The amount of work, detail and quality musicanship on this is amazing!, I think you've both got hugh balls of gold to even think about pulling this off! and you both certainly did that without question. Kenny, fantastic vocals and harmonies, all performed brilliantly, without nailing that the cover would have not been as convincing. Jamie, I'm probably sounding like a broken record but the BT and the guitar work were superb also, with every detail captured, both of you worked flawlessly together. I'll thrown another bunch of fives on the pile!. Hats of to both of you...

Ditto!!! I saw the title and did a double take. What an epic to take on!!! Just imagining what went into the vocals for this... I need an aspirin!!! My god Ken, OUTSTANDING BRO!!! The BT is Off the charts great, and I can't remember when I've heard such closeness in tones!!! The playing was incredible in detail! Five just doesn't seem enough for this!

:jawdrop:
LOVE it guys and I am TOTALLY bowled over by the work you've both put in ...
Only one thing though ... I think we need to have this sublime masterpiece balanced with ANOTHER rendition, but at the opposite end of the scale instead.
I think the Brit' guys must know what I'm on about, even if our brothers over the pond don't ...
We now NEED the GB version of the BAD NEWS cover!!!
5 ***** for DEFINITE!!

When I saw the title I thought you both went insane..LOL! But you have proved that you are...insanely fantastic both individually and as a combo/ colab team.
You have blow my mind guys!! Excellent excellent!! Guitar work was stunning and totally bullseye. Vocals...way beyond any human except those with frozen "middle parts" who live in Wisconsin or unless has the initals F.M. :P You guys take a huge bow. Killer mix...it shows careful well thought out dilligence.
Finally got a chance to listen (and enjoy reading all the previous comments while listening). Too cool you guys. The fine attention to detail really paid off. This was a lot of fun ... even imagined that Wayne's World scene during the rock part of the song. Was thinking that Roger Taylor did a lot of those squeaky falsetto in the choral parts. Excellent job, party time!!

thanks for the great replies. it was a lot of work but anything worthwhile usually is. i had so many tracks they wouldn't all fit on the screen. i like my mixcraft software but i wish you could combine tracks like i could with cakewalk. it would have made it easier to keep track of them all.
john i have no idea what the bad news cover thing is about. please explain

As Steve has so kindly posted the video above, I don't need to Kenny ... but "Bad News" were a spoof, fictional early-80s metal band created for a one-off tv "on-the-road" comedy by a bunch of alternative comedy actors. You may have heard of, or even seen "The Young Ones", starring Rik Mayall, Adrian Edmondson, Nigel Planer ....and the other, short guy (can never remeber his name)*. Bad News were played by the same guys for a series of comedy spoofs, collectively titled "The Comic Strip Presents".
They were the 'original' Spinal Tap, but unless you've made a point of seeing some British TV, you probably won't ever have come across it.
If you ever get the chance, watch it ... it's compulsive and bloody hilarious (as the video above is testament to) :D
* Chris Ryan ... THAT was it!!

Thanks mate, the setting was made on the PodXT, its since been transfered to my new X3L, but this was recorded on XT, using an Ibanez S.
I've been trying to nail the tone for so long, and after alot of fiddling with the AC30 amp model i finally got something close to how i thought it sounds, and with the slightly changed i've made since on the X3L, i think its even closer now, as close as im ever going to get anyhow :)
As for the Harmonys, i honestly don't know where Kenny started, its just an amazing showcase of his talent
Thanks again everyone :thumb:
