Awesome cover! Fat production, one of their best tunes, and an underrated band with an absolutely amazing singer. A bud of mine (Uros Raskovski) recently did all the lead work on their next cd (actually he did it about a year ago but the cd is still unreleased). Killer job on this, everything sounds huge.

Shit me that was good!! Drums were awesome, guitars were huge and the vocal was in the jaw dropping category. You'll single handedly turned everyone into Gordon ' Fuckin' Ramsey overnight!

Guys, thanks for the compliments. The guitars were PODXT with an 80's patch that I created (trying to get close to the Steelheart sound). There were 3 rhythm guitar: hard left, hard right, and center. The drums were programmed using the Steven Slate 2.0 samples using the Shimmery Rock Kit preset in Kontakt. From the responses I've gotten, looks like there is no need to use EZDrummer ever again.

These samples kick a*&.

Thanks again.

well this is getting a bump from me!
give this man a listen...guitars, tones, drums, and amazing vocals deserves a few MORE comments!

geordie and sol are the only ones here i know who could pull this kinda shit off, after listening to this, i gave the original a spin, and this version kills it IMHO.

the only shame here is that his vocals drown out his blistering guitar work!!
pity i can only give you five,,

regards,
jim.

pardon my prophanity but that was fucking amazing. this just mught be the best cover i have ever heard. i loved steelheart but thought they focused too much on the singer's range and not enough on the fantastic guitarplayer. this is where you took an origional and made it better.. drums and guitars were huge. i got to check out the drum program and samples you used. they sounded like a real kit. was that you on the vocals?

eamon and others,

Thanks again for your compliments. When I do my covers, I try to stay true to the original. The vocals were done by a friend of mine as were a few other covers that I have posted here. Yes, he does have a great range and can pull off a variety of bands. I will be re-doing the Lynch Mob River of Love cover that I posted about a year ago with the updated drum samples and maybe more guitar. So stay tuned for that one.

And if you get a chance, check out the samples. Well worth the money in my opinion.

i looked through your attachments and found the lynch mob song. i had missed the first time it and it kicks ass too. sounds like the same singer maybe? guitarwork on that one was excellent too.

I have their two albums. They were a brilliant and powerful heavy rock band from the 90s.

Pardon my French, but this is a fucking brilliant cover the likes of which I have ever heard before. It is as close to the original as it gets. In fact it sounds like a studio out take or something. I hope you are not trying to pull an April Fools on us...

Tone and playing are massive and you have the exact range needed for the song. Steelheart is one of the top 90's melodic rick bands, bar none.

I hear that Steelheart is planning a comeback this year!

canyoncarver,

Thanks for your feedback. No this is no joke. This is probably the best cover I have ever done (with the exception of the Rock A Bye Bye cover I posted a few months back). This cover really came together with the addition of Steven Slate 2.0 drum samples. They really make your track sound like it was recorded in a real recording studio and not a project studio in the basement. No I don't work for them, but I love the product and wanted to make others aware of the samples (I learned about them from the gearsluts forum.

My friend Dain sang the vocal parts and has an exceptional range. Steelheart is just one of the bands that we love.

I'm re-doing a few other songs that he sang on and will be posting them in the next few months. BTW, it probably took about a month to mix and screw around with mastering settings until I got it right.

Thanks.

Wow! I'm out of town on vacation and business conferences for the last 4 weeks and the first song I get check out is this one!! Unfreaking believable. Very professional, guitars and drums are awsome, and your buddy Dain sounds a lot like Rik Emmit of Triumph, same timbre and vocal range, maybe even better. I'm blown away!! 5***** from me. Keep 'em coming! I've got Kontakt loaded on my machine but haven't gotten around to messing with it yet. Glad I listened to this cut, it's just amazing.
