I've been looking for a Yamaha RGX603S for a few years and I finally came found one (ofcourse now there are 2 more on eBay). Anyhoo, the paint was FUBAR and it needed some casual tweaks but I pulled it off.

Here are the pics

I'm currently hunting down the lock nuts, tremolo bar and any spare parts I can find for the bridge. I installed Carvin AP11's in her, they were the right price and prewired, she sounds great.

She had a battered and beaten black paint but after sanding all of the paint off I thought it'd look best with a glassy clear coat.

Damn that guitar looks good! Iīve always loved those natural wood finished ones, like Nuno Bettencourtīs one. Congrats on the purchase.

Yamaha make ridiculously good guitars but don't hold the value (except for the SG2000/1500 etc range). Point of case...the Pacifica range is seen as a budget range but the 812 and 612 are amazingly put together with Seymour Duncan pups and Sperzel locking tuners...but they never hold a good price. That looks superb with the paint off.

Ironicly the '80's and early '90's RGX series hold their value too well. The one I had like this back in 1990 cost me $299, I bought this one off of eBay for $220, others that are in better shape are going for even more.

Must be a UK/US thing mate. They go for buttons over here mostly.

If anyone is considering stripping and finishing a guitar I can give you some pointers!! The most important is that Formby's Gloss is a mixture of Tung Oil and other stuff so you would do better to use a sponge brush for a shiney finish. Second more important would be ... screw the water based tree hugger paint stripper, get the harsh chemicals!!! The water based stuff didn't do jack to the guitars finish.
