I remember at G101 Eric had this thread - Post Your Pics. (Or something like that)

So I thought I'd start it here too.

If there already is a pic thread - (I looked - didn't find one) then I apologize.

If it's ok with Eric - let's see your pics!

Thats it Jimmer! It's a beautiful place - lots of trails that go up to 9,500 feet above see level. Thats probably not too tall compared to the mountains in France - but it's still a real tranquil and peaceful place to goto.

Here's probably the most recent pic I have of me. Feeding some swans and geese at a park near me.

Swans were bloody huge and vicious. I suddenly remembered that quote that...

"Despite everyone saying that a swans wing can break your arm, you never actually have met anyone who has had their arm broken in this way"

...and wondered if I was going to become the first person that people would now know to have had his arm broken this way...

:wtf:

Yeah, I gained a lot of weight when I quit smoking and doing meth. A LOT of weight.... 10 years later I still have most of it. Managed to turn a lot into muscle though. And yes, much went to my jawline, which is why I don't like a lot of my pictures...just groses me out :p

Here's a little hobby of mine I wanted to document.

I build high-end skateboards for the concrete surfer. I always wanted to have a board that had the feel of an expensive guitar on the bottom. After much work I taugh myself how to get there... The bottom is arched (we call that a concave rocker). It's laminated birch pressed into a vaccum press. Lots of work but the result speaks for itself.

I sell them once in a while to crazy people like me.

They do need attention. Right now I'm trying to get it to stop screaming. Apparently you can reward with even negative attention so when it screams I don't even look at it for a while. It was also biting when I first got it but it doesn't seem to do that anymore. Part was my fault because I was scared of it when it would grab with its mouth (they do that) and I didn't know how to handle it. Part is because its not as nervous I think.

Plus, the last time it bit me I knocked it off my shoulder with a bag of chips so...

It likes it when I play guitar...but at some point it starts screaming again when I play higher notes.

It likes it when I play guitar...but at some point it starts screaming again when I play higher notes.

Thats the life of owning a bird!!! I had a Cockatiel once...given to me by someone, and that fucker wouldn't shut up for nothing!! Finally couldn't take it any longer, and found someone who already had a couple and wanted another...... have a friend now who has a whole damn aviary in his yard.....just have to be the right kind of person for it. Gimme my dogs any day!!!:thumb:

I've managed to take it down a notch actually. I just don't give it any attention when it screams. If it gets too bad I put it in a room in the back and turn up the stereo. Then I come back and see what it was bitching about (usually needs something). I try to respond to other sounds so it can tell me it wants something without being so annoying. Then, if it's on my shoulder or my hand when it does it I knock it off. It floats down to the ground (can't fly but it doesn't just hit the ground) and I leave it there for a while.

These tactics are working. It still screams from time to time but it's much less often now.

It doesn't like to be watered :p I have been meaning to get a spray bottle so I could give it a bath. Then I noticed it cleaning itself in the water bowl. I didn't have the bottle but I did have a plant waterer...I figured it would be like rain. Yeah...that wasn't that great an idea. I really freaked the poor guy out.

Two weeks ago I was in the back yard just kicking back and thees baby blue birds kept falling out of are red wood trees one right after another it was like a 30 foot drop for them thay still couldent fly so I gatherd them up and caged them tryed to feed them two of theem died and one was left so I gave it to the critter society and its doing well found the parent bird and it was dead also mother was still around but it wouldn't take them back I even used gloves but no dice the two died right in my hands it sucked.

But the one is going to be a flyer .............:D

Myself and Linda had a week in The lake district with some real good friends . A collection of mountains , lakes and villages amassed in an area about 25 mile square and which sit up in the North west of England .

Apart from one day we were blessed with truly superb weather , whilst the rest of the UK suffered the worst floods in living memory . The mountains dont get much higher than 3.500 ft , but its the way these buggers are grouped together complete with giant lakes and picturesque villages (and pubs that serve real ale ), that makes them so enchanting .

Here are a couple of pics , my camera is awful , and i have no idea of how to obtain a decent photo , but whatever , heres a couple .

yeah we found it by accident when we decided to take the scenic route to barrow last year. its on the A593. We were staying at Newby Bridge which wasn't too far away. We ended up going to the aquarium at Windermere (?) which was pretty cool.

Glad you enjoyed the pics . Anybody who's never visited the lakes should really do so before they snuff it , its a mystical place full of ancient mysterious objects . and as for the beer , well the brew i supped was Jennings , although i did sample Theakstons Old Peculiar , pure knock out juice . :brickwall:

Just a few more for you dude .....

The cottage is where Beatrix potter used to live , without her the lakes just wouldn't still be there . Watch the film .

The one of the lake was shot by placing the camera on the bare rocks right at the edge of the shore line , i snapped as the ferry sailed across , but i had accidentally smeared the lens with hand cream :upset: , come to think of it , it was a dumb idea anyway . Wheres Eric when you need him

The rocks are Castlerig stone circle , or just a part of it , couldn't get it all in shot .

Castlerigg stone circle!!

Never felt more at peace with the world than when I was sat on the grass in the middle of the stones, just feeling the warm breeze and staring round and around at the surrounding hills.

Felt almost a primeval connection with the land, the sky and the air ... a very profound, spiritual experience.

I could have sat there forever.

Went to Center Parcs last week. Awesome place if you have a little one. There were cycle paths called boardwalks built to navigate down the hills and I really did feel like I was on the moon on Endor in the village built by the Ewoks in Return Of The Jedi.

I just wish that I had brought my light saber.

Neither my camera nor photographic skills are up to Eric or bluesplayer quality, but here's a few for you anyway...

Lovely pics Art. You cannot fail to be moved by the Lake District. It's wierd because like Lord Of The Rings folklore, I can feel my batteries draining away living in big towns and cities...and a trip to Coniston or Windermere sets 'em up again.

If you get the chance, check out a bar/restaurant/hotel in a place called the DRUNKEN DUCK in Barngates which is off the road to Ambleside on the way to Tarn Hows...Mondy...is that the small lake you mean? The Drunken Duck is a great pub with a warm welcome and a fucking Michelin Star these days! You can still get the most amazing sausage, mash and black pudding with a pint of great ale...not cheap but amazing place to stay. My wife used to go there as a kid with her family and we went there last when she was pregnant with our son, Sam. These pictures make me want to get in the car now and go! :thumb:

Here's some of my trip to Portugal in May. REALLY loved the place...nicest European country I've visited...and I've been to most. The air is fresh and the scenery incredible-you really feel you've found your own cove. Because of the dreadful Maddy case (small 4 year old girl abducted) I was on tenderhooks all week as my little one is a similar age. However, I would certainly go back at the drop of a hat as the place was beautiful and the people lovely. We stayed in a place called Carveioro which was about 60km from Porto. I'm looking to try and buy a place with my Mother in the near future. We stayed in a 4 bedroom villa and didn't want to leave at the end of the week. Great, great place. GO and see for yourself. The last photo was the only way to get to this cove. Hollowed out of the rock.

Well, for us it was perfect. All geared up with a Toddler in mind. i.e. wherever you went there were baby changing facilities, easy access, places to put the pram, extra this and that so you didn't have to take everything that you owned.

Everything we needed in the cabin was there. Rabbits and ducks and birds were all coming to your door all the time, which was nice.

It is a tad expensive though, but that puts a lot of the less savoury people off, if you know what I mean. Plus, you can be as active or inactive as you like, and nobody cares. You're not being bullied into getting up at 5 a.m. to do some trek or getting badgered all the time to sign up for some activity that you don't want to do.

If you take your own food and drink, it would become cheaper, but they do have everything you want there. The more people share a cabin as well, obviously would cut the price.

As for the facilities, top notch. The water park was brilliant with an outdoor rapids slide that was awesome. Although I threw myself head first into the first one thinking it was deeper than it was and ended up nearly knocking myself out !

I would highly recommend it, and we are already talking of going back again. We went to the Longleat Park which is really hilly, but the Elveden Forest one is a flat terrain.

Oh yeah, the bikes were pricey as well. 12.50 a day or 21 each for the week, so if you have one, bring your own ! That's a nice thing about it. The only time you see a car is when you check in or leave, after that, all cars have to go back to the main entrance car park and you either walk, cycle or take the land train to get around.

Looking at the maps, I think that it was the Barn Door Campsite (http://www.barndoorshop.co.uk/campsite.html) at Wastwater (http://www.search-cumbria.com/lake-district/lake_detail.php?num=15) that we stayed at and the pub I am talking about is the Wasdale Head Inn (http://www.search-cumbria.com/lake-district/lake_detail.php?num=15). At least, I think so anyway. Without going back there, I cannot be sure.

Yours are better than mine, my friend. Plus, I have to confess that you are more like Eric, cuz I stole the idea from him !

Plus, both of your photos poo all over mine from a great height !!!

They were just random pictures that we might use as backgrounds when my wife puts together a scrapbook page of our first holiday as a family.
