I'm on a roll at the moment finished two songs in just as many days!!
I had to do a Rush tune, didn't know which to do at first Bastille Day and Passage to Bangkok were contenders but I decided on this less obvious number.....I hope fans of Geddy don't mind my vocal style :D

Oh no! of all the obscure Rush covers someone could choose to do, I am currently working on this one too!!! Although one of my fave RUSH tunes, I've rarely ever heard anyone talk about this Rush song, let alone cover it, so I thought I was safe in taking my time with this one. Guess not! I am currently at work right now so I cannot check this out, but I will certainly be checking it out first thing when I get home tonight! This is a highly rocking yet very under-acknowledged tune. Looking forward to hearing your take on it!

Cheers very much mate, I can't wait to hear your version :)
I'd recently picked up a Zoom GM-200 amp emulator going cheap second hand. I used this track as an excuse to try it out for tone and playability.

Hey Rudy, this is cool, man! I have been dwelling quite a bit lately about what to do about the vocals for my version, because, despite having a handful of really talented mofo singers on this site, these vocals are almost unreachable! And my only solution was to try to sing it (or ask someone else if they would sing it for me) at an octave lower. It sounds like that is the approach that you took and I like it! You really caught the 70s rock vibe in your guitar tone and also the effects and the layered vocal tracks. Good show, man! :thumb:

Nice one mate! I like the way you made it your own with the vocals.
1 Question. Wherethefuckisthebass?
Afterall it is the most important part of any rush song!

Always loved this tune. Great job Rudy. Vocals are harder than nails..but you did well. Guitar is more modern and rocking, but welcomed as an interpretation to this tune. Great job man! :thumb: :thumb:

Afterall it is the most important part of any rush song!Interesting point. I thought it sounded great as is, but one things I've often noted about this song is that the guitar and the bass are definitely not mirroring eachother. They are playing their own riffs in the same key, loosely connected to eachother. There is good alternate motion of melodies between the bass and guitar. It is an interesting arrangement which makes it a jammin' groove.

The bass is in there fellas, but I'm no Geddy on the bass:lol: It pretty much follows the guitar apart from a few different notes which you can't always tell with the mix, sorry :(
Yes hte vocals were real dificult and I messed up a few bits too!:upset:

Thank you everyone for the great comments :woot:

Forgot about this one, works now.....
Liked the way you did the vox, suits the song fine. Guitarwork and backer were great too, but I don't hear any bass either? Great work regardless :thumb:
