this would be it :woot:

I don't think it looks overly flashy. I like natural wood tones (browns).

Very nice, Pete. Creamier scratch plate maybe, to match the pickup and the abalone?

Well i've always loved the JEM Series, i'd quite honestly be happy with any of them, but given the choice, this one would be mine :

Its not exactly a custom model like yours Pete (looks great btw), but the
7-String JEM, i just love it :)

Inlays look nice, so as the woody finish. Headstock and ´handle´ are horrible for my taste.

You have taste?

Obviously a bit different from yours from what I see, :) . That handle ruins it for me, but you how opinions are right?

I do love the tree of ivory and pyramid fret markings in the pictures posted. I also love the eye symbol as well.

I think I'd want that swirly one that Vai has on the cover of Passion And Warfare if I got one:

http://www.vai.com/Machines/images/guitars/DNA_small.jpg

or his trademark white one:

Not too keen on the gold hardware though.

I dunno about the one stingx posted. I love the natural wood, I just think yeah, possible it's the pickguard colour that makes it look "wrong" to me.

:dunno:

I don't fancy the price. Way overinflated for what it is. If you go to Ibanez.com you can use the comparison feature and I matched my RG1570 against the Jem 77V and, except for slightly different fretwire, lack of monkey grip, and pups (oh and a minute difference in specs between my Wizard pro neck and the JEM's) it is essentially the same guitar only I bought mine retail, on sale, for about $600 and the Jem retails here for a little over $2000.

Well i agree on the price, thats probably while i'll end up buying either this:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_s7320bk.htm

Or this:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_rg1527rb.htm

Even though i like the RG better, i'll probably end up with the S series, solely on it having the ZR Trem, its just so damn good, plus its cheaper, rubbish colour though on both.

The "Vine of Life" looks extremely cool. I too like wood grain finishes. That would be my JEM if i needed one. :thumb:

I would like that without the pickguard, which spoils it for me, but would be too embarrassed to play it in public

lol, that is the thing isn't it, you own a Jem, everyone will expect you to play it like Mr Vai, i'd better stick to a misc no-name Ibanez S/RG

Yeah, I think I should have stuck with my Encore Strat (doubles as a great baseball bat) as opposed to the two EVH guitars I have (Wolfgang, Stripey Kramer).

The expectations / playing ability ratio would have been just about right there...

Wow, he's gonna play Eruption ! Oh no, he can't even play Kum-Ba-Ya !

:chucks:

Well my old guitar i started on has been butchered into a test guitar for alsorts of things, i'd never be able to use it 24/7 though, i'd rather have a Jem that and be un-impressive then a Marathon (guitar not the chocolate bar lol) and sound ok on it :)

I hear ya man, that's why the baseball bat has lived up in the attic for the past 10 years !
