Very sad to have to read this thread.
I didn't communicate personally with Ted, apart from wishing him and your daughter well in their recent illnesses. He will be missed here! A lot of people were rooting for him when he told the forum he was out of remission.
Sincere condolences to you and your family Sparrow.

I, also, can only echo the sentiments already expressed.
Ted and I didn't really communicate, but from reading his posts and the comments from other members, I know he was a truly great guy ... and will be sorely missed.
I hope you can take some small comfort from the depth of feeling toward him that exists in here and please, when you're able, drop in here again yourself for a chat and some simple friendship.
Wishing you well.

i had really hoped that the treatments would have given him more time if not a cure. its so hard to win with cancer. you never know when it will strike or strike again. it must be devastating for his family to lose such a wonderful man, father, husband and friend. we all loved Ted and he will be sadly missed. (did you send Frederica with him?)
When I saw the title to this thread, it knocked the wind out of me. This is so sad. Man what a nice guy he was! He will be missed so much around here. My heart and prayers go out to his family. RIP TedThis sums up my thoughts exactly.
I remember Ted, and even his hot pink "Sling Shot" avatar back from Guitars101. He was one of the first people I remember seeing at that site. One thing about Ted that was a lot of fun for me is that I could log on this board and see the songs listed in the "recently posted" section and, without even seeing the names of who posted them, I always knew which songs were posted by him, as he and I share quite a similar preference for 70s music, particularly the tunes that were not obvious choices to cover. I would spot the listing and say to myself, "now THAT one has GOT to be one of SlingShot's covers!" And I would go to that thread and it of course would be his tune. :)
One thing that I am glad to know is that passing to the "other side" during sleep is probably the most peaceful way to go, and no other way would be more fitting for such a peaceful and friendly soul.
Ted, if you are reading this, you will not be forgotten. Fortunately for us, your posts are recorded throughout this board and will serve as reminders of the goodness that you brought to this community. Tammy, I hope that Fenderica will find a good home with a similar soul as Ted. Peace be with you and all of Ted's family, and those who are grieving his loss.

Hi Tammy, in the past we've discussed Ted's illness and he's always recieved a lot of positive support so he's been able to see it from us. Many have also expressed their concerns and hope through email and PM's. He has always been a great friend to us here and an asset to this site, I do believe he knew how much we appreciated him.
Also, you may now use all the PM feature on this site. Welcome and we're glad to have you aboard. :)

Oh my God !
I've been away this past week whilst I have been doing some D.I.Y. on the house.
This is the first thing that caught my eye while I logged back onto the site.
I'm just knocked for six by the news. Ted was such a nice guy and I have to say very unique in the songs he chose to cover and the way he covered them. I don't know of many others that followed the vocal lines with his guitar.
I'm just so sad at the news, first and foremost because he was such a nice and humble guy, and also because it's another life claimed too short by the Big C.
I still pray that they find a cure to this that you can buy over the counter as a pill that you can pop. Until then, my heart really goes out to people who are affected and the loved ones left behind to deal with the loss.
I know what you are going through, and I can't offer any guidance on how to deal with it, other than to say that it's a sad, sad loss, and I'm sorry that you have been cheated from him being taken too soon.
But, it's another angel up there looking out for you all. That's how I see it. And he's not gone, he's just in another room to which you don't yet have access to yet.
Rest assured he'll be saving a space for you, and while he waits, he'll be playing that guitar of his along with all the other greats that are no longer with us.
Rest In Peace, Ted. You will be missed, but always remembered.

I apologize ahead of time if this isn't as coherent as it could be, this news is very upsetting. I'd like to share a place with you all where many of Ted's friends from both g101 and guitarblast donated their original music to help Ted and his family through his first bout. Sadly, we never had anyone buy a song. But I think the spirit of it and that so many wanted to give their personal artwork for another's benefit was, and still is, truly moving. Mostly, I think it illustrates just how much Ted was loved by us all. There are also some of Ted's original works posted as well.
Ted was a saint in my eyes. In every interation with him, I was always left with... "What a nice man, a prince". My sincerest thoughts and prayers are with all those who have to bare this loss. He will be truly missed.

words cant descibe the feelings i had today when i found out, and just seeing the name of this thread is very upsetting and emotional for me. As many of you, Slingshot gave me support about my playing when i was unsure, from his heart. A great Musician with his own original style of singing with his axe. I enjoyed so many of his takes on songs i though i had no interest in. He was always there with an uplifting comment. Without any doubt, one of the few great people/guitar players i was lucky enough to know. This is the first time ive had to deal with the passing of a friend from the net, and theres no difference than a friend in real life..the feelings are the same. God Bless You Slingshot! I will never forget our friendship as short as it was!

I am stunned that I missed this post. I am absolutely heartbroken. I have spoken to Ted a lot in PM and by email back in the day and knew of his problems and hardships. And, back in the days of G101 a few of us tried to help, and even though Ted was a proud man we sort of bulldozed over his pride by sending money. He didn't want it but we wanted to help and that includes many that reside here on GuitarBlast today. Ted was one of us and it is devastating to hear that he has passed.
Ted's suffering was too much for most of us to bear so we made a few gestures of cash. It's probably pissing in the ocean but I hope that made some kind of impression on a friend we had never met. And Ted was a friend. He made a serious impression here and at G101 - and I cannot think of a single instance of him posting anything negative .. But he did give me some constructive criticism from time to time.
I will really miss him, I'll miss his unique posts and I won't forget him.
Cheers Ted!!
