"Just messing around really" Yeah, right :D Sounds brilliant, all the different effects and the whammy, made for an interesting and varied listen that put a big grin on my chops all the way through. Great start, well guys, the standard has been set, go for it :thumb:

Thanks mate, glad you liked it, i've just listened to yours though, and the heat has just been turned up!! , cracking version mate, loved the whole feel, and the nice rocky pace of it, i think one of my favourites of anything you've done tbh, loved it :yourock:

For the first few verses I was thinking "Thats just like I play it acoustically". Then came the twist :D Very clever and original I thought! The outro part really rocked too. A fine version mate, like Jamie said one of your best. I can see myself having to stick a pin in my monitor come voting time already

Hello guys.
Thought you should know that i wanted to support this monthly contest and tried all day today to come up with a version of Paint it Black that i could enter. But the more i tried the more the song just sounded like the Stones and not my own style.I don't know if it is just this one particular song but i could not get a good groove going in it.Sorry:tard: i will try again next month.

Yeehah! Another entry :D Is this one you do or did you rope the band in for the contest? Sounds fine apart from the aforementioned clipping, nice to hear a full band version, and good drumming!!!!

Lol im gonna do my entry today Steve, as i think the theme for this month deserves many more entrys then it actually has  .. ive just built myself a new custom made hum cancelling single coil style humbucker yesterday, so this will be perfect to test it along to :D
I will take a listen to all of your entrys once im done fellas :)

Hi Stevo, It's one we do on a regular basis actually. Usually goes down well and gets people dancing. The French love "Zuh Rolleeeng Stonz"!!

I am so cheesed off at the clipping though, my drums sound ace but the ol' joanna was way to gainy when recording it.

Hey, Bahamut! Good to see/hear you in the comp as well. Cool arrangement, and it's great that you're using your own style. You should do it all the time imho! :thumb:
The leads towards the end got me thinking of Hotel California at one point.
Intro was pretty Gilmourish too, wich of course is a good thing!
Loved the tones ya had too.

Thanks Naif , well the beginning part was inspired by Steve Morse, i love his clean like playing, so when i play laid back stuff i just fall back to playing like his clean style , as far as the end part goes, well i dunno lol but im glad it sounded alright anyway :D
Ive just listened to all of your entrys now , i gotta say between our four entrys theres a great deal of variety which is good , Jamie yours had a very Satch come Vai like vibe to me , can hear the whammy working overtime (and my poor Ibanez lmao  ) , had a hint of Deep Purple in places aswell which is to be expected , lovely work there bro , Naif i did wonder if you were gonna do a acoustic version of this, i was thinking about it myself but then i saw on the feedback thread that you had done a acoustic version, so i thought nah i know when it comes to straight up acoustic playing, you will deliver the goods , which you did , i loved the acoustic work both rhythm and lead , the bt sounded great and your vocals sounded excellent , especially liked the middle part when it just goes down to the one guitar and your vocals on the other side , great work mate , finally Hans i really loved your bands rendition of this , yours had more of a classic feel to it and definetly captured that 60s /70s vibe much like the original , but combined with your own arrangement and style, everyone did lovely work , right from the vocals ,to the acoustic, drums and keys , you really can't beat that live band feel imo , great work from you all

Another different take, sounds great in your style Mart! Fine playing and tone as ever. And a whole day left on the deadline too  Plenty of variety here as you said :thumb:

Now Kenny, I know I said you could do whatever you wanted here, but.....
On the second listen and laughing my ass off again! Hahaha .. that was the off key and time riff in the middle, class :D Die die die .. Brilliant mate! Gonna save this for future use on Stones fans :)

i thought you guys might get a kick out of it. i'm not sure if it should be an entry or not. i was just fooling around and don't want to take away from the work you guys put into yours with my insanity.

the funny thing is that i really do hate the stones. i was messing around with the lyrics at work and they played 6 stones songs in 5 hours on the radio. i am just so tired of them so the lyrics are what i really feel about them. die, die, die.lol. i recorded the whole thing in about 20 minutes. sounds like it doesn't it.

Oh Mr Parks, nice little entry! Did you think we wouldn't notice the Jumpin Jack Flash riff at the end of the Chorus! Very cunning, two Stones songs in one! Kenny will be LIVID! lol

Hey Hanz

Thanks but i think it a mess.I listened to naifuzan's and your entry did someone else do the Jumpin jack flash thing?.(who is kenny)
I could not do this song in the original manner and this came out of screwing around with different drum beats....i even did a Reggae version if you can believe that!.The guitar i used for both parts was THE THING my pink outer space strat and the 59 pup sure works well for recording.

Thanks again Parkie:)

Kenny is eamon7 who hates the Stones.

You are way too hard on yourself. No its definitely your entry with the Jumpin Jack Flash riff! When I get home I will tell you what second it comes up. It's exactly the same! Very clever...I like the montage... or is it a medley? I can never tell :D And the Thing really does sound like a Monster!

Lol i just listened to both Kenny's and Parker's , first of .. Kenny i was laughing my head off , i thought the lyrics were great actually and fitted into the song fantastic lol , i must admit im not a fan of the Stones either , i also found the out of tune guitars funny in the middle , but the overall enjoyment from listening to it was up there with the rest, even tho i know you did it as a piss take . great work mate  :woot:
Parker its great to hear your pink guitar with the super cool kickplate in action , some lovely warm like strat tones and playing from you on this mate, like your son i also enjoyed the drumwork , gave it a diffrent edge

Far from a mess, and there was most definitely a touch of Jumping Jack Flash towards the end there :D I thought it worked well, would have liked to hear some vocals on it tho, I hear a deep, guttural voice on there, sorta like what Naif does sometimes.

Anybody else? You have until Jamie wakes up

Just caught up on the last 3 entrys :)
Hans, great version, its always nice to hear a live band at work, and you guys played it brilliantly, great version
Mart, great version, and a very personal take on it, alot of yourself in the intro and the exit, great entry, loved all the layers you put in, excellent work :yourock:
Kenny, i'm picking up a vibe, you don't like the Stones maybe  , awesome work though, very creative, well writen too, i was laughing my head off throughout, awesome work :thumb:
Parker, great version, the guitars reminded my of Crushing Day a touch, really cool, and as has been mentioned, some Jumping Jack Flash in there too, great work and really enjoyed your take :)

The poll will up in a minute, so best of luck to everyone, and big thank you for all your entrys, and the great spirit you've all shown in your entrys, its what makes these comps such great fun :thumb:

(god I hate the stones. What the hell is that? Gypsy music?
Somebody buys this crapp?)
I hate the rolling stones as if you couldn’t tell
Anyone who likes them should burn with them( and U2) in hell
Die, die, die, die, die, die, die…….I’ll go get a spade
Burry them with all their records so they are never played
My hating the rolling stones gets stronger every day
I wish they all would die or at least just go away

Die, die, die , die, die, die, die,……… I wish they’d all get aides
……….die now! don’t fade away
………..these guys actually get laid?
……… Fuck it get me some Kool-Aid

LMFAO!!!!!! I ain´t voting right now, but that doesn´t mean I can´t have a good laugh at all the entries! Bare in mind this one is my ABSOLUTE favourite, LOL! along side Jim´s take with his band, (a bit too cold a take compared to this one, but that´s Europe, LOL!).
EDIT: Ooops me and my clumsy fingers should of thought of posting this here instead of at whatever feedback zone, sorry guys, didn´t think about it at first.

Just to stick my two-pennerth in ..

Kenny, I think you could seriously give Weird Al a run for his money. I LOVED your take on this, just purely for the tongue-in-cheek f**k-about with the lyrics and your little ad-libs in there.

Music should be about fun ... and that sure WAS!

All you other guys showed a real feel for some different styles (loved Per's reasonably 'purist' and excellently-performed take), but Kenny's just took the biscuit for me.
