Hi everyone! Well, I got it done using the twisted neck. After taking off the fret board I plained it opposite of the twist. It ended up being perfectly straight. After the plaining I installed medium jumbo fret wire and leveled the frets using a 9.5 radius block and polished them. After putting new strings on it and setting everything up,..It now plays very very well. I'm very excited about it and its got a good sound to it also.
Here is a short blues backer with this guitar. I only used reverb and the Tweed setting on the behringer. It's after the pics on the bottom of the post!
Check out how twisted the headstock is in the first pic! This is how bad it was,..but after the plaining of the fret board and neck,.. it is straight now and neck feels great!
Now the only thing I have to find is the trem arm!!...
Oh yeah,..check out the mistake on the dot inlays,..shouldn't the 10th fret inlay be in the
9th spot!!?

Wow! That must be worth something. I've never seen an Ibanez older than about '78 when I started buying them. Have you had it valued?

Thats one hell of a twist! But its one hell of a cool retro guitar so I totally understand you wanting to keep it. I can imagine it now has a neck like a Washburn I used to have...Incredibly thin and fast. Great job.

Yes,..it's got a very thin neck,..kinda strange playing it. I'm use to a thicker neck,..but it's really cool bro! I dig the shit out of it! The lip stick pups sound really great and it has some sort of tone switching also. Kinda makes the pups sound a little different when ya use the switches! Cool..!

Wow that's an achingly beautiful tone you have there too... Very antique, classic blues, but I can imagine it does heavier stuff well too.
Whatsmore, Retro shapes are all the rage now and you have the real deal! I'm jealous!

Thanks man! Yes,..I'm really proud of it as it came out really good. I took my time with the neck,...(I only had one shot at it) ya know! But I'm very happy with it! Wait till ya see the 67 Danelectro Prtoject I have going. It's a 67 Coral Firefly Semi hollow body. Like an ES 335 or ES 330 Gibson! Vey cool guitar! I can't wait to get started of this. Tomorrow I'll bring it work with me,...and rip it down! It's 3 tone sunburst. Awesome!! Pics to come! I wanna do a before and after thing! I'll post them here,..later this week! It needs some love though!..I'll give it!

:wtf: It sure sounds great man! Leveling that fretboard must sure have been a hard thing to achieve looking how it is at the first piccy. It looks a lot like a friend of mine guitar, same shape but small black plastic switches and three PUīs. Horrible golden glitter paint on it . It was his dadīs guitar back in the day. Having so much space in between those two PUīs must give an interesting sound when coupled, plus more free space to bang them strings, lol. Way cool guitar J!

To say the least,..YES,..it was a hard job to get right! I had to remove the fret board from the neck using a blow dryer! After it was removed I turn the fret board over a plained the back side of the board and also the top of the neck where the fret board is mounted. I had to remove about an 1/16 to an 1/8" on the top side low E string portion of the board. After doing all that,..(about 2 hours of work to get it level ) I re-glued it back on the neck and then gave it a 9.5 radius to the fret board. What a bitch man.. I figured that it was worth doing it to the guitar and I am very pleased with the outcome. The neck was originally gloss/ lacquer but now it's just sanded very smooth with a coat of natural stain to bring out the wood tones. The neck is very smooth and plays like a real guitar. I just have to get used to it thin neck. I believe this guitar was for students just learning to play. But hey!,..cool it is and I't a keeper.
Guitar background: My buddy went to an old and new shop in the town we live in about 3 years ago and he purchased it for $2 dollars,..that's right,..TWO Dollars! I just hung it on my wall since that time, thinking that it would never play and would just be wall art. But,..now it's a player and for 2 bucks :wtf: Yeah buddy! I just have to find a wammy bar to fit it now!
