I,ve had to get rid of the 5150, so I am going to collect this beauty tomorrow!!
It's a all tube ,2 channel Ashdown 60 watt fallen angel dsp head with matching 4x12.according to the all the reviews I've read it's an absolute monster, with great ,sparkling clean sound and awesome hi gain sounds, with a lead boost on the 2nd channel making it almost a 3 channel amp.It comes with 16 dsp effects but that won't bother me as I will still use my vamp pro for effects anyway, and 2 seperate master volumes!!.It also comes with a foot switch to control the channels, master volumes, effect on/off and lead boost on/off !!
I got it for only 190 quid!!!Bargain!!!

Looks nice Dave ... and a good bargain. Heard some good things about the Ashdowns too.
So, why get rid of the 5150 though? problems with it?

I've got it!!!:) It sounds rich as hell!!Very old marshall with lots of bottom.Clean channel is amazing! channel 2 is very ac/dc rythme and the boost brings it into this century with a bit more gain.I tried it with the v-amp but I didn't like the sound,it spoilt the amps natural sound.Bye bye v-amp !!It's getting swapped on saturday for some good pedals, probably a good chorus and overdrive.Playing lead with it was a bit lacking so i used an old graphic pedal to overboost the mid frequencies and the lead suddenly came alive, very gary moore!!!The dsp effects where ok but I really like the delay and the chorus,so i'll use the effects channel for delay and pedals for the rest.It is very fucking loud,as loud as the 5150 and it has the master volume boost as well so if i can't hear a solo I can make it louder!!:woot: The cab sounds excellent and the amp also has a fan to cool the valves. There is an emulated line out for di and recording so I'll do some recording with it soon. Can't wait for rehearsal on sunday to kick some ass!!It's great to go back to valves again for live ,the emulation stuff just doesn't seem to do it for me any more.:wtf:
John, the 5150 was on permanent loan and could buy it if I wanted but it was too over the top and fizzy for my tastes. So I persuaded the owner he needed to play guitar again and I am returning it to him tomorrow night.I'm back to my old valve roots again and loving it:boobies:

Good for you mate :thumb:
BTW, got my Classic 50/50 poweramp back from the repair tech ... sounds mint again!
Got my vintage Sound City 120 head in with him now ... and I'm watching an original Marshall Guv'nor pedal on ebay ... so I 'might' be joining you soon, but with a mix of digital and valve, plus old-school all-valve to boot!

I know photos exist of Hendrix apparently using Sound City amps on stage , but im pretty sure it was just a bit of promo work which paid a few bills . Certainly the Sound City 120 ( had coloured knobs ) i had in my bedroom for a whole year sounded awefull (TOO DAM CLEAN ). They were however popular with Discos and Bass players . Correct me if im wrong but Sound City amps would not distort , even on 10 !
because mine certainly didnt .:) I'm wondering if the new batch has an improved gain to cater for modern trends .

Yeh, they stay clean all the way up to MONSTROUSLY loud .... but with a good overdrive pedal .... :notme:
Plus, you can still get a master volume conversion done ...
Before I realised that two valves not powering up was a problem, I was driving it with my Vamp ... and it sure sounded sweet then. After a service, well ... who knows?

Tried out the stack at rehearsal today and it took a while to tweak it to fit with the band but I think I managed it.The controls are so precise that I'm not going to touch anything so it's ok for Thursday's gig. It's bloody load though!!:wtf:

Great looking Cabinet and Head.. love the emblem on the front of the head looks like a Custom Job.Any amp can crank out huge gain but ilike the fact that you said it has a good solid clean channel and that is what is important on any head in my opinion.
By the way what the hell is a Squid or Quid worth in real hard green backs? You guys have the crazy'st donomanations with squid's and pee's and pence.

"Quid", "Squid" ... both slang for one pound (approx. equivalent to 2 USD)
pee, pence = one hundredth of a pound ... compares to a pound as a cent does to a dollar

Nah, that Ancient Ibanez 'V' went a loo-oo-oong time ago. I liked it to play, but it just couldn't cut it sonically (VERY poor pickups).
I miss the 18yr-old, svelte young lad from Teesside much more!
