That was a great fight I caught the other night. I think clearly it was Calzaghe's night. Hopkins at 42..43..yrs old would wip my ass in milliseconds...but in the end, I do think the better fighter won...and rightly so. He displayed the speed and stamina of a well disciplined boxer..not a fighter or brawler. Did any of you catch it? Agree? Disagree?

I would love to watch it again...If you get a link, I would love to watch it many times over. I thought it was a very good fight. At the end Hopkins looked pissed off..but that is the nature of boxing. The Judges see thing....or don't...but it all counts.

Well Joe is a great fighter, and after Hopkins knocked him down, i wondered wheather he was in for a short night, but he did more then enough to make up for it, and deserving winner, maintaining an awesome record too :)

Not Calzaghe's best fight. He got shown up by a fading talent but then Joe is no spring chicken nowadays. I felt he rode his luck on this one but all good champions have less than scintillating fights from time to time. The result was the right one at the end of the day and Joe still has more to give in my honest opinion.

I wish I could grab the links PG....RS says they have received complaints, so it's unavailable. Worth re-watching and I appreciate your efforts uploading. :thumb:
Glad you guys also got a chance to watch the fight. I like Hopkins. But I believe his time is done. There are many new guys emerging and the upcoming fights should hopefully be as good. Cheers!! :thumb:

I actually got to catch it on HBO and it was just as good as seeing it for the first time. I think Calzaghe has a bright future...but when he mentioned Roy Jones...well...that's another game altogether...Roy has killer speed and power, but I just don't like his showboating...but that should be an excellent fight if it comes about. Thanks again PG. :thumb:

A bright future dude? Joe has been world champion for 10 years, no one from the US wanted to fight him until Hopkins. He is having 1 more fight possibly against Jones then he's retiring.

I thought the decision was right. When Hopkins got that knockdown early, if you noticed there was a left hand push as well as a punch. The push was on the opposite side of the ref, so he didn't catch it. Calzaghe wasn't really hurt so much as off balance, and then shoved.
Hopkins on the other hand was a thug the whole fight. Calzaghe did well to avoid those cheapass head butt shots Hopkins was taking.

I thought that was now part of Queensbury rules filed under Holyfield :)

I did not know that.
Why he hasn't gotten more exposure here then is a mystery to me.
Too much focus on the US/Vegas circuit I would guess. But that was one class fighter. I would love to see some of his other fights.

I think thats true mate, he battered Jeff Lacey to get his US shot, try and see it if you can. I stood next to him in a bar in Cardiff a couple of years ago he is only about 5'7 but you seriously wouldnt mess with him!!:slap:
