Hi guys, here is one i recorded this afternoon, the title track from Satchs "The Extremist" album.
Always enjoyed playing this one, so i thought it might be nice to give it a try on my new webcam which i got at christmas and haven't used yet, til today.
Had a few slight hickups while trying to record it (Windows Movie Maker acting up), so i recorded the video and audio on the logitech software which came with the cam, then edited it in Movie Maker afterwards.
I think the guitar signal got recorded in mono (cam settings), so i lost a touch of my tone there, but even so, i think it still sounds quite good though, first time i've picked up the guitar in a while too, so i'm abit rusty :tard:
Anyhow, here it is, hope you like it, and thanks for taking a look & listen :thumb:

Need to slow it down and work on the pitch of your bends and your vibrato.
Also in the main theme before the 22nd fret bends try playing those notes open on G string. Harmonics will come a lot easier and sound more aggressive.
Turn down the gain as well :)
If you learn to play it cleaner with less gain your overall technique will improve exponentially.
God I sound so negative all the time??.....argh!!
Fun song though one of my faves.
I made the solo after the first harmonica part into a ringtone, absolutely awesome solo segment that is. Bastard of a lick too with the fret intervals and the open strings.

Well thanks for the feedback mate, but i'm just plain out of practice, its the first time i've picked up the guitar in quite a few weeks, and i've not been playing right for a long time, it was more for fun then pointers.
On the tone side, imo, you're listening for a classic Satch tone, i always record with his later JSX style setting on most songs, the kind of sound you hear on the later G3 style recordings, the only time i go back to the early tone these days is for Surfing, and the same applies to pace of the song really, i play it how i enjoy it, and thats far faster then the original.
I don't mean to shoot down your advise mate, but my aim was never to put down a perfect note for note performence, just to try and have some fun on the guitar, back when i did "Surfing" i was in form, here i'm just out of sorts, not enjoying guitar or music much these days, i've just been trying to find some inspiration to keep plugging away, but its not happening.
Thanks for the reply anyhow, and my apologies for not being slightly more welcoming of the feedback, its just that i know i'm far from my best atm, no1 is harder on me then myself, believe me, on a good day i could nail it against the wall, but i just can't get into anything atm, i think i need to pack up for a while.

Seems you're a little dis-illusioned with yourself there Jam'? Nevermind, it gets to us all sometimes.
I actually quite liked it, though I've never heard the original to be able to compare.
I was intrigued though with the way you pull your third finger away from the board when you use your 2nd finger alone.
S'pose we all have our little playing 'quirks' ... I could write a few lines about the ol' "Wato reverse-bend" technique (Wah, in a former life), but I won't here ... watch closely next time he posts a video ... see if you can spot it :notme:

I am quite honestly mate, i don't want to moan more then i already have, but i think i just need a break from it all, i enjoy playing the bass atm, but not much else, so maybe i'll go over to some of that for a while or just packup for abit.
Glad you liked it though, i've picked up quite a few quirks, playing two and three fingered is one of them lol, i do use my 4th alot more then i used to, but even now more on chords or acoustic then on lead, some habbits r hard to get out of, but my 3rd and 4th come into play when needed :)
Thanks again for taking a look :thumb:

I thought you did excellent on this aswell Jam , i know that you don't like trying to copy guitarists and play more your own style to things, which sometimes works well for alot things , i mean really in honesty theres knowone that can play note for note regarding any musician , you just have to do your own thing , which i thought sounded excellent on this :)
Also tho playing through the podxt direct into the comp is bloody hard to get the kind of sustain that Satch gets or indeed most guitarists , Satch especially in his Marshall using days had a very focused sound , i think its hard to get the podxt to produce the sustain you need while keeping that balance/focus that he did, you do often have to drive the bastard hard which sadly does result in a more distorted tone , still you have to use what you have :)

i thought you did an excellent job on it jamie. i love that song and i think you nailed it for the most part. the wammy and squeels at the end of the main solo kicked ass. i thought the tone was fine. i'm sure it was even better than it sounded using a camera. i likes the harp work too.

Hey Jam, I thought this was a great version, excellent tune to cover and thought you played it very well. I'm a big fan of hearing individual style as well as mimicking the artist you're covering and there is a nice blend of that in this video and to do it live and video yourself, makes it even more impressive. Great work as always Bro and I can totally sympathise with frustrations that guitars can cause (I've given up on guitar more times than I care to remember!) I just go over to the keyboard and play that for a while and then realise how limiting it is when soloing and soon pickup the guitar again, LOL. Anyways, top marks for this one mate, very enjoyable!!!.

there was nothing wrong with that , dammit wish I could play like that, I might as well call it a day:lol: ....fascinating to watch you play and damn inspirational for me...you are very close to Satch's tone...that solo was superb....
The guitar is a freaking difficult instrument and you are damn good on it mate. Wicked work my friend and I am gonna keep this for inspiration for when I have a bad guitar day which is very frequently...how you get those squeals and scrapes is damn amazing....wow...:boobies:
cheers mark

 , i just need a change of scenery mate, i've been recording and working of musical projects almost non-stop for the last 2 or 3 years, and i think i just need a break from it, or atleast find a fresh way of enjoying it, but probably the former over the latter.
I'll just have to fill my spare time with being in my twenties :D
