This is just a little something I did the other day, it's just a riff right now... I am new to recording, but I think this turned out pretty good... Problem is, I keep thinking it sounds like something... Give a listen and let me know...

 it sounds like a lot of other songs and also it does not:confused: lol what i mean is these four chords or this riff is used in a lot of metal tunes as a bridge i think , that is why it sounds familiair to you , not bad for your first recording but my advice is that you put the lead guitars a little louder in the mix and that you make some tempo and chord changes in the song, it will make it more interesting for the listener :)

i hope you can use my advice:D i didnt mean to be a jerk or something , just trying to help you a bit :toothless:

Thanx for the input... I was amazed that I was even able to figure out how to record 1 track let alone the several it took to put that together...

I did not find your comments to be jerkish at all... : )

yeah i know that its not easy haha i listened to my first recording yesterday and it didnt even sound 1% as good like yours sounds , just keep on working on it and it all will get good , the more you record and play with the rocording program u use the better it gets and the more you learn , thats how i did it :)

Sounds pretty decent man :)

A few tips: lose some reverb on your guitars, they kind of sound muddy but the fundamental tone is great. same for the bass.

The drumkit is EZdrummer with DKFH. Sounds good out of the box, but right now it sounds just sounds like that. "straight out of the box"
Tweak it a bit, experiment with different settings, maybe even get a little adventurous and use the multichannel option it has and tweak it from your DAW.

The lead tone is the only unpleasant thing i found. Grainy, thin, way too much gain and low in the mix.

Another thing is panning.. try spreading the rhythm guitars out to hard left and hard right and leave bass in the centre with the lead guitars slightly off centre. It will let your mix breathe a lot better.

I know how hard it is to get into recording, keep up the good work, it is really rewarding when you finally get close to the sound you're after..

Hope you find the above useful, and if you need any more help you know where to find us! :D

Sounds goods man - keep it up.

Is the rythm looped? Sounds like I can hear a click in there as it repeats or something?

Anyway good for a first recording. My first ever recording I went and microphoned the water in the bath and added reverb. It sounded wicked but it wasn't really a song.

If this is your first recording then be well pleased mate! Im still soaking wet behind the ears myself. All the subtlties of recording will all become clear the more you do it. Stick around and ask loads questions, everyone here is always willing to help. As has been said get that lead guitar more prominent, just adjust your volume sliders for starters, your rhythm guitar will still be heard even if you lower it and up the lead. Good job!:thumb:
