Just bought one of these lads off of Ebay for £48 (inc postage)
it's brand spanking, can't fall off, they're usually £65-£70

Also the black 3 ply Scratchplate I'm getting made should be sorted sometime next week too :woot:

Hey Unraveled

Thought you were a six string guitar player not a 4 string.
I would like to hear some of your stuff some time.....give us a demo when you get this project together.:woot:

At the Gibson factory they align the whole thing then when the strings are in place they tap them with a wooden mallet to indent the strings into the saddles (on a 6 string lespaul) not sure how they do it on a bass.

I think they wear in after tuning, but what Parker said makes sense,I think the saddles have a slightly lighter alloy.
Found this on a bass forum that might help mate.

I've put a Kwon BadassII on every bass I've ever owned. Cant go wrong, the sustain & tonal difference is remarkable!

Long haired twat (he said baldly)

Yes mate it don't half growl and the sustain is unreal. Boiled me strings up to give them a new sound. I'm not the guitar tech type (Intonation) I had a go using me tuner, I tuned to each string to pitch then adjusted the saddles to bring the twelfth fret in to pitch this is wot the bridge and saddles are looking like at present.

Two questions. On every bass I've had in the past the saddles are in a stepped sequence, Eg. The E string saddle being closest to the butt end of the bridge and the G saddle being closest to the neck end. as you can see by the pic below this is nothing like that but my tuner is saying everything is in pitch. Could this be because my string are quite old? or am I just wrong in assuming that the stepped saddle positions are the norm. Also I haven't filed the saddles yet, Is there a real need to do so?

You made me look at my bridges with that one. If its in tune and pitch is correct it doesn't matter where they are.
It reminds me of a story someone told me about a lads mother putting all the tuners in a straight line while clearing his room because she thought it looked tidier :) .What is that bass Pete?

It's a Squier Special Precision mate I bought it new for £169 nearly two years ago. Can't fall off for that price, though it's nowt on me old JV Squier from back in the mid '80's. Can't get away with the jazz pick up though (it's always turned off) maybe it's just cos it's a cheapo stock one,
I might invest in some EMG's one day.

Flea's bass playing/slapping style is well outta my league mate. All I can do Johnny is refer you to a reply I gave to Parker1963 when he hinted at something similar earlier in this thread.
