Axis were big hitters on the Teesside rock scene in the early 80's. Some of the local lads on here have had musical connections with some of the members in the past. I believe Reverand Gill still works with their guitarist Dave Little, who was one of the nicest lads on the rock scene back in the day. Have a listen see wot you think.

Yup, I've still got this on vinyl too!

Good stuff.

Mick Tucker went on to join Tank ... and Davey went on to join (is that what they call it now?) "The Pauline Gillan Band" (little sister of Ian Gillan) - obviously way before Gilly & Dave teamed up.

Talk about a small world ... my former brother-in-law, Dave Birdsall of Glacier, sang with Axis before this line-up.

Bloody heck , Id forgotten just how much Schenker had influenced the NWOBHM movment .

I remember just shortly after i had met Propane ( Mac ) . He took me to see his mate Tucker . I was just getting to grips with Barre chords and felt capable . Propane said you'll like Mick . So after a knock on his door we walked into his kitchen . Mac said hey ive brought Art to see you . After a quick hand shake and a cup of tea he turned on the amp and gave the guitar to me first . I did my best party pieces and passed it to Mac who did the same , then Mick grabbed it and let rip .

I initially wanted to pass out , i felt quite queasy . How did he do that ? His fingers moved quickly like a tiny crab fleeing hungry seagulls ( where the hell did that come from ). His every new note was better than the last . He was my idol from that moment on . Just why certain people never make it bugs me .:headscratch:

Yeah Lady is very MSG like and the solo in Messiah is totally Schenker.

His fingers moved quickly like a tiny crab fleeing hungry seagulls ( where the hell did that come from ).
It don't matter where it came from, it was a quality description.

I remember seeing them do the 12 minute version UFO's of Rock Bottom on quite a few occasions.
Tucker had that solo down almost note for note.
Just why certain people never make it bugs me.:headscratch: Didn't Mick get the White Spirit job when Jannick went to join Gillan? I also heard many years ago that he was working on something with Bernie Tormé. The last I heard he was still with Tank. Of course poor John Cunningham never got the chance to make it. I dunno wot happened with Marty Day after Holland & Hammer, or wot became of Paul 'Biffo Mcguire & Graf.

I was talking to Mick a few months ago..Tank is dead in the water now...He's now running a very very successful joinery business down in Surrey..He did join Spirit after jan left..toured with Mettalica in Europe & Japan with Tank..He did like Schenkner but his & my true heroes were Wishbone ash who you can hear in Mick's solos all over the shop!..Like Arts says...how the hell he didnt make it was beyond me!..I also bumped into Graf on our oil rig a few years ago..he's now an engineer living in Australia!

Well, there was nae money to be had in the Northeast during Thatcher's years (was there ever, anywhere?) ... so we had to find SOMETHING to fill the long hours when we couldn't afford to be in the pubs! :boobies:
