1985 saw line up and a name change for Gypsy. First to leave was original singer John Griffin who'd had enough of Todd,
he was replaced by Singer? (I think not!) Martin Clerkin. The band name was changed to the ridiculous Hot Blooded,
I was still there, but not happy with this so called vocalist, or name change, which in the end resulted in me being replaced by
a lad called Nev Percival. They went into the studio to record two tracks. I Want Your Body & Out On The road Again.
Anyway here's the latter, this song was more or less wrote by myself and Lippy back when John was still in the band. It was shelved then, brought back after I'd gone. I love this song! Though I wish it had been recorded with John and without keyboards. I also wish I'd put the bass down, as Nev added nothing of his own into it! All he did was listen to rehearsal tapes and pilfer my bass line.
Anyway, more importantly listen to Lippy let rip here, he's quality!

Another line up change Lippy is out, Wah is in! Here's two songs. It's Only Love & Headstrong. IMO It's only Love would've had massive commercial apeal with a decent singer.

IMO This is the best song they recorded and it's the only song where the singer does well. Oh aye Nev is out, replaced by ex Skitzofrenik bass player Mike Howard. This is a great song, you can tell it was wrote mainly by Wah.

Lots 'o' mixed memories there Pete.

Remember all of these little gems of course. Never knew that Nev' also got replaced tho'.

Know you didn't hit it off with Martin, but he nearly became my brother-in-law in later years! :wtf:

Big J It's Definitely Mike Howard on bass on Boys & Girls, he could also be on Headstrong too! (Wah will know) I never ever barney'd with Martin, just thought he wasn't the singer they (and he) thought he was. Anyway he proved me right himself when he joined Fast Kutz. They went to record an album at Fairview in Hull. The engineers wouldn't record him cos he couldn't stay in key.

Yeah, I heard that one too, but I'll keep me own counsel.

Tried to re-connect with him a while ago and he did respond, but after the first bit of enthusiasm towards it, he just doesn't seem motivated to keep up with old acquaintances.

I'm almost certain he was a Wah's house one time when I was talking to Chris via MSN.

Must've been a while ago then ....

Unless maybe he just doesn't want to know me (and can yer blame 'im :notme: ).

nah ... there's other stuff between me 'n' Marty that I want to clear the air over (life too short an' all that), but can't do it when the conversation's only coming from one side ...

oh well ... maybe sometime before we die, eh? :tard:

I wouldn't worry about it! You can only try for so long before it becomes a pointless task. At the end of the day it was all over 20+ years ago, don't dwell it! You may think he's a fine one to talk and that I dwell on the Todd thing, but I don't!
I just like to slate the wanker whenever the opportunity arises. I also get the feeling he's looking in on here from time to time.

Nice one Pete:) The history of hot blooded in 4 songs! The band was never the same when you left mate,It lost a lot of the fun factor.Cheers for uploading these and thanks for the compliment,it would of been tons better if you had recorded it and it didn't have the keyboards, and ,of course, if John had sang it!!!!I love boys and girls though,They asked me if I wanted to play with them as guitarist for the racecourse gig,as Chris was playing with Black Rose on that day as well, but I was with Millenium at the time and it would have caused a load of heartache if I had.

The racecourse gig yeah the sound was terrible up until Glacier came on!
Hot Blooded were finished then, that was the day when Owen finally quit.
and Todd pleaded with him (with tears rolling down his face) to stay.
All my predictions came true in the end. Todd destroyed everything!
Fuck! why was Chris playing Todd's hideous Ibanez ST50?

I think the reason being that Glacier did organise the gig ,thus the better sound:lol: Or am I just be negative about the whole thing.I had a great day as I was in charge of stage right and ended up quite pissed as I had set up a bar at my side:lol: Good day though and it did the business of raising a few quid for live aid at the time.:)

It was worth it....just to hear lippy's solo!.Nice stuff Lippy, fast as a hired gun:chucks: and smooth as silk. You did some nice fast run's that were well placed and thought out.
Man its fun to listen back on this old stuff from the 80's even though i am from another country the music and the whole rock culture was the same there as it was here.

The other thing about lippy's solo was that it was so clean and nicley compressed, you have to remember that at that time guy's were using way to much distortion and lippy's solo cuts through the mix like a knife. Not to crazy about the singer but i guess he sounded like 100 other guys at that time.

Thanks Unraveled for posting this older stuff from the "Teeside Terror's" can you post some stuff that has Captain Spasm in it?.I dont think i have heard him yet.

Park:)

Cheers park!!:thumb: It's weird for me to hear myself from 20+ years ago:tard:Back then I used a jcm800 marshall 50, an Ibanez tube screamer and some form of chorus pedal.I'm now getting back to that sound using just the boost and 2nd master from my ashdown for solos and the delay from the amp..You just can't beat valves:woot:Captain has posted some of his stuff from the past here:http://www.guitarblast.com/showthread.php?t=8791

Hey, I was on that side WITH ya mate (plus I'd had a few Carlsberg Specials meself after our set) ... remember when I beckoned John Youdale (Glacier's guitarist) over while he was playing ... then stuck my clip-on Garfield on the peak of his cap? and he couldn't remove it cos he was in the middle of a song? :tard:

You'll have to ask Chris about that ... He thinks he's right ... but I KNOW that I am. :)

Besides, why spoil a perfectly good argument? ... PLENTY of years left in that one still!
