Hell-ll-oo-oo Bayyybe!
Hubba Hubba!
:woot: :woot:
:boobies: :boobies:
Ohh-yess-ss ... Now I remember why I loved mine so-oo much!
Beautiful Park ... thanks for posting .... so many good memories.
That is EXACTLY the same as mine was (except I had the stock V2 and Super-58 pups in). Same dark rosewood fingerboard Mother-of Pearl fret markers with contrasting 'Chevrons' ... same book-matched flame-top and cherry sunburst.
What's with the adjustable polepieces in the middle of the bridge pup then? Is it a P90 type?
I see you've replaced the gullwing strap buttons with the schaller strap lock type buttons too (same as I did too!).
I think I'm in love all over again

Thought you would like that Cappy!
I took the close up of the fretboard for you becasue these guitars had the nicest abalone inlays i have ever seen, even nicer than they use on guitars now.It was a truly distinguishing feature of the DII.And the back pick up is a Dream 90 (P90) pickup but that is going to change i just got some Bare Knuckle Mule Kickers to put in her.
This guitar to me is as much an instrument as it is a work of art.

Pleased you've kept it (and kept it so well) for all this time mate.
Wish I'd held on to mine now too, especially since I learned of it's demise only a couple of years afterwards.
Like you, aside from Pablo Gilberto's, yours is the only other one Ive ever seen like this ... seen one with dot inlays ... but none quite exactly the same ... till now.
Thanks so much for posting Park ...

Hey Captain
one more question.Do you know anything about the seriel numbers on these guitar's?.
Mine is L815123
does this mean 1981-5 month-1st day---123 off the line?.
I know that i pre-ordered this and that mine should be an early model.
one other thing a noticed is the wear on the bridge saddles and corrosion looks the same as your baby's, must have been a common thing for the plating to wear off in those areas.

p.s if you look closely at the frets you will see they are narrow pyramid style.....way ahead of their time on that. Those are the same ones Fender,Charvel, and Jackson are using on their production models now in 2008.

I'm sure "81" means manufactured in '81, but don't know about the rest. I know also that a "J" prefix means made in Japan (as my Roadstar), but not sure about "L" prefix?
To find out for sure, I suggest you contact the official Ibanez re-seller for your area (can get their contact details from the Ibanex website www.ibanez.com (http://www.ibanez.com))
The plating is only a thin coating, so yeh, it will wear off after a few years of playing and rubbing with a sweaty palm (oo-err missus) ... but the corrosion on mine has obviously not had any attempt made to remove it, or to remedy it in any other way ... which is why I suspect it's been kept in a damp environment and never seen the light of day for years.

Thanks for the kind comments guy's.
Good shape on the front, the edges and back are a little chewed up from stupid things i did with it.
Many times i just about sold it or traded it for the New Guitar on the block but was talked out of it thank god.I guess this is one that i managed to keep.We all have regrets about certain guitars we either traded or sold so its nice to have one that didnt get away. Now if i could just get back the 79 walnut SG that i traded to get the Ibanez DII it would be a clean sweep.

Just arrived.
I got a super deal on this Campbell American UK-1 guitar. Its made in Boston Mass and has a poplar body(looks like ash) and maple fretboard with seymore duncan 59's in it.Also has asplit coil pup system for single or double coil pup use.The president was afounding member of the band Be Bop Deluxe. The only made 12 of these guitars like this for the Namm show 07 and this was a display model that got marked and chipped in a few spots but nothing important.which meant that i bought it for under half price.
I am definatley going to sell a few other guitars so i can buy the Preix model as well. This guitar is light as a feather but really cooks when pressed.I have never had a guitar that was this bright acoustically.
