The Who’s Roger Daltrey has said that the band may never record a new album again.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, the singer said that the band had “done enough”, and although recording a new album would be great “it doesn't really matter.”
In the same interview Pete Townsend also poured cold water on any future recording plans by the band, saying “I don’t know whether I can write songs for the Who. I don’t know if I can come up with some idea, some story, some angle that will make me feel good about being the writer for the Who.”
It had been thought that the two surviving members of the band were working on a covers album of material that the band played when they were starting out. It’s not known if that plan will now go ahead.
Meanwhile the duo are looking at plans to resurrect the touring Quadrophenia show. Daltrey told the magazine “I would like to do 'Quadrophenia' again. I think that tour was way ahead of its time when we did it back in 1996. There’s so much we can do, but the road does wear you down.”

WTF, Townshend might be a pederastian prick with no knowledge of what growing up means, nor how to fit in solos in a song, Daltrey´s range couldn´t reach an octave, but Moon and Entwhistle absolutely kicked major ass. Hell, those guys really knew how to build strong songs without any embellishments. Respect. :dj:

Yeah it's time to stop I think. They were a great band that wrote some brilliant stuff.
Entwhistle = Phenomenal. Daltrey = Quality vocalist.
Townshend = Good song writer/guitarist but absolutely shit lead player.
Moon = Easily the weakest member, sloppy as fuck! never rated him at all.
Thet sounded much tighter with Kenny Jones.

I seriously would like to listen anything of his sloppy. I mean, don´t get me wrong, but the first record I literally worn out (thanks Mary) was Who´s next.
Moon kept off the beat, ok, but man, what a tremendous work!
I understand he was on the sauce 24 hours a day ( and who knows what else), but there´s no doubt he played drums like no one, including Bonzo. Moon was a fun listen. Bonzo was a boring pounder. imo.

To be honest I was judging more on his live work, anyone can get it spot on when you have months of studio time at your disposal.

Thats the trouble with making a statment as i did..you tend to trample on others fond memories of a band that they love.Obviously you have good memories of the Who and grew up with them.
Dont get me wrong a couple of their tunes like "who are you" and Pinball wizard were anthems and i liked the songs themselves. But when Townsend started writing his own solo work it showed just how weak it was aside from Rough Boys, same with Daltrey as well. And certainly the rumours of his love for underage girls/kids didnt help my opinion of him either.Pedestrian wasn't the "PED" word i was thinking of in describing Townsend.
Entwistle is a great bass player and always had my respect, and Moon was the kind of guy that would be a great bender buddy and was totaly unique.

Well i always quite liked the Who, so its a shame to hear they won't be recording any more albums, but at the end of the day, they have classics they can perform on stage, and most of the time any new material from bands on the 'retirement fund' tour is just not that great anyhow, you only really want to hear the old classics, but a shame even so.

Townsend wrote some of the biggest anthems in rock, period. The dude deserves major props. I saw them in 2000 and he actually had improved quite a bit in his lead playing, did a great solo spot, but that was never a major component of the Who's sound anyways. It's always sad to see a great book come to a close but on the other hand, these guys have been saying they're done for many years. And yes, Pete is definitely a nut-job."I know how it feels to be a woman because I am a woman. And I won't be classified as just a man." - Pete Townsend
hoookay Petey.
