Right everyone, here is a list and some explanations of our proposed themes for the next 12 months:

August - D.I.Y Theme:
This theme is all about you and what you want to do with the backers provided, the idea is we provide a slow and fast backer with just drums and bass, and you get to turn it into a song.
You can add guitars, vocals, keyboards, harp, anything you want, its totally up to you where you go with it, and what you do with it :)

September - 3 Stages Of Hell Theme
The 3 Stages Of Hell is the Triathlon of guitar styles, a backer will be provided which progresses through 3 different styles of guitaring, and its your job to jam as best you can to all of them.

October - Halloween Theme
This one is pretty self-explanatory, its the month for spooky songs & entries, they'll be more on this as we get closer to it :)

November - Open Theme
This will be one of our 3 Open Theme months, which the theme will be chosen based on the feedback and sugestions that you guys all come up with, so throw your ideas into the hat :thumb:

December - Christmas Theme
Pretty self-explanatory too, Christmassy songs and entries, full details in a few months :)

January - Anything Goes Theme *
This one will be a good old fashioned mp3 contest, fresh entries only, song of your choice, no '3 month in the works' masterpieces lol, just good fun :)

February - Love Theme
Feb is the month of love :kiss: , full details still in the ideas machine (and sugestions very welcome).

March - Open Theme
As with November, this is the second of our Open Themes.

April - 2 Minute Acoustic Theme
One of my favourites that we've had in the new system (thanks John :thumb: ), this is the 2 Minute Acoustic Theme, anything goes aslong as its a fresh recording on a acoustic or classical guitar, and 2mins or under.

May - Artist Theme **
This is the Artist theme, the idea is there will be 3 or 4 artists names selected (hopefully from sugestions you guys put forward), and you can cover a song (or even just a part of that song, a solo for instance) from any of the artists named.

June - Open Theme
As with November and March, this is number 3 of the open themes

July - Classic Blues
Finally, the Classic Blues month, a backer will be provided for you all to just jam out the blues on :dj:

Now, some of the themes (Christmas & Halloween for example) will be an annual event, some of the more sucessful months might also join that, we'll always be looking for original entries in all competitions, we really hope you like the look of some of these themes, and i'll look forward to hearing from you all on any sugestions and ideas you may have for the future themes :thumb:

I like the idea:thinking: of various stages and several backer styles to play to.
And the do it yourself with just drums and bass will be fun to hear other players play to as well.

Also the 3 stages of hell looks like a good one too:drool: .I think you guys did a really nice job of comming up with a whole new forum for the competetions.

A good example of the serendipity that can come from trying other styles and songs was the April? contest.I think it was Steve G who thought to use "paint it black" as the song of the month.And i must admit it was not my favorite song to play.But as i tried different ideas and approaches to the song i came up with my own song from the bit's and piece's that were ideas from it.So if these contest's continue to give me idea's for new songs.....keep e'm commin!:boobies:

Thanks mate, i did really enjoy that month too, and who can forget Kennys entry :lol: , and to the credit of everyone who has won, we've had some great months, hopefully we can build on that and really get everyone having some more fun :)
