    Amp question....

Got a question. I'm going to be putting together a 2x12 custom amp, and was wondering if anyone use's am amp the runs an amp sim. Does anyone have any suggestion on a amp that is just that,..an amp only,..no controls.
I'm going to put it in an old Peavey 2x12 cab I have and going to use my Johnson J Station as the sim or controller. Looking for a good 100 watt amp. It doesn't have to be an all tube amp, it can be solid state with a tube pre-amp or whatever.
    Thanks guys!!

I Used to do that using my Vamp stuff and line 6 floor pedal and I used to put them out to my normal guitar amps, running them clean. My behringer combo amp has a stereo line in so the amp just amplified the stereo signal. Also have used stereo power amps like peavy's CS series amd got reasonable results but eventually went back to standard amp and pedal configuration...you just can't beat it in my opinion
    Time for a change!!

    I just check on the CS series,..and they are $1050.00 No no,..not that expensive,..and it's a 2000 watts!! I'm only looking for a 100 watt power amp.
    I'll do a little searching.

Edit,..I think I found what I'm looking for,..it's a Rocktron Velocity 100 50w x 50w Stereo Power Amp. Only $200 on ebay. I think I'm gonna get this on. Thanks for the help bro!

One amp that i can suggest that is well priced (used) or even new for that matter is the Kustom HG100 it has XLR compensated out and two chanles that would run any Sim very well. These amps were given the #1 rating by Guitar world mag.I have personally run my zoom through this amp as well as an old toneworks sim and they sound great.

don't think they make just a power amp without controls...then you would be getting into just a poweramp for Pa system. But that might be an option as well cheap straight poweramps would be from berhinger or someone like that.maybe even Peavey has a small pa powered amp head for cheap.
here is the Kustom link for Pa powered heads:The KPM-4100 100watt head would be very well priced as is all Kustom stuff.

Johnny, I don't know if this is what you're looking to do, but I looked at that the J-Station and it might work for you. I have a Line 6 Spider III 120watt (great celestions). Love it, but it didn't have all of the sound options I was looking for. It has a CD/Line in input (it's so you can jam over a CD, etc). I run a stereo 1/8 chord from the headphone out from my Multi Effects pedal, right into the 1/8th CD/Line in. It just gets amplified out into the Celestions. I have to say, it's a near perfect match to what the tones sound like running headphones straight out of my Digitech pedal. So if sounds good there, it's near identical, except with volume. The master volume has to be brought down out of the pedal to about 2/3 or just a little under for it to keep the highs and lows without any alteration. The bonus is that you can put the effects pedal on bypass and have 2nd guitar plugged in to the regular line in of the spider and just use the spider virgin. It's a fantastic amp, one of the better solid states out there with a ton of great features, it just didn't have the arsenal of effects that I've been playing with lately. There's only 1 type of chorus, flange, phaser, tremolo (although the best tremolo effect I've ever used), delay, etc... only one reverb taste. Not sure if that helps you, but it has opened things up quite a bit for me.

Theres usually Marshall valve poweramps on ebay they would be a good bet. Will also help to make the J station sound better.
